This family-run hotel in the East Cheshire countryside hides one of our favourite spa gardens. Saunter between the vitality pool, salt steam inhalation chamber, outdoor magnesium-enriched pool, potting shed sauna and plunge bath.The Amber Ritual Spa Day (from £199) is a warming reset for the colder months and includes a full day in the Thermal Gardens, a 60-minute Amber Ritual treatment, an hour in the Relaxation Lounge and lunch, with a choice of afternoon tea, mezze, seafood or a ploughman's. Want to stay over? A Night of Autumn (from £324 per room, two sharing) adds dinner, breakfast, a glass of Devaux Champagne, plus a walking postcard and water bottle for exploring the countryside. Available until the end of November.

Autumn Spa Stay

Cairndale Spa is an adults-only Five Bubble Luxury escape that knows how to do cosy. The overnight Autumn Spa Stay starts with a smoothie on arrival, then robes on for three hours of thermal spa access. Expect a large thermal pool with jets, water blades and airbeds, a Himalayan salt sauna, a Brass Monkey ice bath and the only double hammam in Scotland. Choose a 30-minute treatment from a menu that includes a Hydration Facial, Pro-Age Facial and head or foot massage. We love the seasonal Spiced Mud Rasul; autumn in a treatment. Dinner in the Oak Bar & Restaurant and a full Scottish breakfast complete the stay. Pop the complimentary slippers in your bag to take home.

Slow & Restore Retreat

This overnight retreat in St Andrews invites you to pause and reset before the colder months. Your guide, Rosanne Nieboer - a yoga and meditation teacher for more than 20 years - uses a gentle, Iyengar-rooted practice that is all about slowing down and tuning in. Expect yoga, meditation and an evening sound bath. Braver souls can join an optional Sunday morning cold-water sea dip, with cosy changing robes, socks and gloves provided. Between sessions, there's a 50-minute treatment and full access to Kohler Waters' contrast therapy experiences, from sauna to plunge pool. Lunch, dinner and breakfast in the Road Hole Restaurant overlook the Old Course. It runs 21–22 November, from £380 per person (two sharing). Places are limited.

The 'Ber Month Break

Sometimes the looking-forward-to is half the pleasure. GuestHouse agrees, so it rewards planners with its best rates this autumn. Book a room-only stay from Sunday to Thursday, at least three weeks ahead, and the longer you stay, the more you save: 15% off one night, 20% off two nights and 35% off three nights. Fancy a treatment? We recommend the 90-minute Top-To-Toe Glow. It starts with an invigorating lemongrass back scrub, followed by a back, neck and shoulder massage with organic aromatherapy oils. A foot scrub and massage come next, before an organic facial and scalp massage.

Overlooking the famous Mercedes-Benz World track in Weybridge, BSpa is a Surrey favourite. Its Autumn Reset is all about releasing tension: A 50-minute Gua Sha treatment by Comfort Zone is followed by a 25-minute Cranial treatment. Then you have three hours to explore the Himalayan Salt Room, saunas, ice fountain and meditation room with gently heated waterbeds. Don't miss the Sunlight Therapy Room for a dose of tropical island vibes as the days get shorter. The outdoor hot tub with views across the track is another highlight. There's £10 to spend on Comfort Zone products too, so you can continue the ritual at home. From £137, available until 30 November.

Set on the clifftops of the County Durham coast, Serenity Spa offers a restorative autumn retreat with warming rituals, tranquil indoor spaces and a new nature-led Zen Garden. Make a full day of it with Autumn Embrace (from £199) which includes a blissful five hours to enjoy the facilities, a 60-minute Signature Top to Toe Ritual (back massage and facial) and £40 towards lunch at Geko, the Japanese-inspired spa restaurant. Prefer to unwind as the sun goes down? Sip & Sundown (from £134 midweek) gives you the spa from 5pm to 10pm and includes £40 towards dinner at Geko, served with a glass of champagne. Sukha Spa Indulgence

Tucked inside Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, J Wellness Circle blends Indian wellness traditions with British therapies, with no need to leave central London. Sukha, meaning “bliss”, lives up to its name. This 210-minute ritual combines a nourishing scrub and wrap, a Pehlwān Mālish Indian oil massage and a relaxing one-hour facial (£445). Treatments of 120 minutes or more include complimentary use of the wet area, so you can linger in the vitality pool, steam room and sauna before a sensorial shower. Short on time? A Day Spa Pass (£100) gives three hours in the spa and fitness facilities. Couples should look at Somã, a candle-lit Indian aromatherapy massage for two, followed by a rose petal bath and a bottle of sparkling wine (£495).

Autumn Equinox Spa Experience

Named after the Gaelic ‘goddess of the rivers’, Devona Spa is a calm sanctuary in the Granite City: Aberdeen. The Autumn Equinox Spa Experience pairs a Harmony Full Body Massage with an Express Elixir Facial by Germaine de Capuccini, plus a 30-minute Serenity Solo “Touch” session in the new Wellness Lounge. Between treatments, you can use the 20m heated pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. A £25 lunch allowance for the Quarter House Restaurant, a robe and slippers bundle to take home and a £10 retail voucher complete the day. (£190; a saving of £100) and runs through September, October and November.

Wellness Retreat | Floating Sound Bath

Inspired by its Cotswold heritage, Hatherley Manor Spa is dedicated to natural wellbeing. There's a pool with garden views, a vitality pool and a thermal suite with a tepidarium and heated loungers. This September, the spa hosted its first Wellness Retreat, combining 30 minutes of yoga, a 30-minute sound bath, a 25-minute treatment, full spa access and a two-course wellness lunch. Its Floating Sound Bath returns on 25 October, with an hour of floating sound, evening spa access, an Apple & Raspberry Spritz and a light grazing board. Both have proved so popular that the team plans to add more dates, so keep an eye out.

Last Rose of Syon – Autumn Escape

Set within the 200-acre Syon Park Estate, this adults-only spa takes its inspiration from the butterfly sanctuary that once flourished there. Its seasonal Last Rose of Syon escape includes a 30-minute personalised massage or facial, shaped by Kallima's consultation-led approach and two hours to enjoy the 15-metre pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room. Round off the day with a two-course seasonal lunch or afternoon tea, enrobe in the Kallima Café. Prices are £139 per person Monday to Thursday and £169 Friday to Sunday. Extend your treatment to 60 minutes for an extra £35. Available until 31 October.
