In the final instalment of our spa-ing through the ages series, Stylish Spy looks at treatments for women in their 60’s

With less production and repair of collagen in the skin as women enter their 60’s, help beyond expensive creams may be needed. The skin will appear thinner and looser during this time (you may bruise more easily); it will also lose water more rapidly, appearing drier.

The good news is that most women in their 60’s will be beyond menopause, giving them more energy and a sharper mind - the brain fog associated with menopause should begin to lift. If this ties in with your retirement years, you can add regular spa visits to your calendar without time constraints, too. Just book, relax and enjoy your golden years. Here’s some treatments to try.

Pure Alchemy Facial
(50 minutes, £90)

The Pure Alchemy Facial is an experience of two halves: a balancing massage including exfoliation, acupressure and a meridian massage (pictured above), and a multi-step facial including a double cleanse, two massages, facial cups to remove toxins, a rejuvenating mask and rose quartz rollers to reinvigorate the skin. Their promise? Inner harmony and glowing skin. Don’t take our word for it..

Elemis Pro-Collagen Age Defy Facial
(75 minutes, £104)

Clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in just one treatment, breakthrough technology promises to restore the architecture of the face using potent nutrients from plant actives combined with targeted massage techniques. It may sound more like a science experiment than a spa treatment but the results will speak for themselves.

Natura Bissè Diamond Experience Infusion Facial
(90 mins, £170)

Any treatment coined The Hollywood Facial is going to be worth its weight in gold. This innovative 90-minute facial sticks two fingers up at ageing with a glycol peel, special lifting massage and gold mask. Just one sessions should see winkles vanish, frown lines fade and luminosity improved.
Try it at: K Club, Ireland

Temple Spa Totally Quenched and Drenched Face therapy
(75 mins, £85)

A must for dehydrated or neglected skin, this luxurious facial will leave you looking radiant. Nourishing, quenching ingredients are combined with powerful anti-oxidants to replace lost elasticity and moisture in the skin without the need to down 20 pints of water. It ends with a special Windows Of The Soul treatment to eliminate fine lines around the eyes.
Try it at: Utopia Spa at Alexander House

Take a True Thermal Journey
(45 mins, £50)

Not all treatments for combating ageing involve facials, with the alternating benefits of hot and cold water perfect for tightening skin and flushing out toxins. This thermal journey includes a dip in a warm marine vitality pool, time in a salt inhalation room and a visit to the Finnish aroma sauna, interspersed with cooling showers. The treatment ends with a roll in the snow - yes, really.
