At Good Spa Guide we are passionate about spa-ing and love the fact that spas are so accessible to everyone. You don’t have to be famous or rich to enjoy the benefits of a good spa – nor do you have to always leave your family at home. The Spa Spies™ regularly travel the country in search of spa excellence and diversity, and we are constantly surprised and delighted by affordable spas with plenty to offer the whole family.

Spas at family holiday centres have been one of the biggest successes of recent years. Center Parcs is probably the most well-known, with its wonderfully accessible Aqua Sana spas. We also love the Ribby Hall Village in Lancashire for its take on the family resort luxurious spa offering. Most recently we discovered Bluestone family resort and spa set in the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside in Wales.

All of these holiday villages have found a clever niche and worked out that they should cater for the adults in the party as well as the children. And adults often really, really want a spa!

We were charmed by Bluestone in Wales, with its magical Wellness Spa built around an age-old well in the midst of the family resort. While the kids are doing archery, building dens and generally lapping up Bluestone’s ‘free range fun’, the adults can sneak away to find some precious ‘me-time’ at the Well Spa.

Your spa plans won’t even be thwarted by inclement weather. Bluestone has a massive indoor swimming dome, with year-round swimming fun meaning guaranteed spa time for mum and/or dad. The spa can even arrange for your kids to be brought to you after their activity – no need to ruin all your carefully cultivated tranquillity with a mad dash to collect them! Unfortunately there are no guarantees that bad behaviour from your little treasures won’t shatter your calm back at the lodge, but such is parenting life...

We loved our time out in the Well Spa at Bluestone. The small hydrotherapy pool in the central decking is hot and bubbly and has two strong swan pipes to massage away tension in the neck and shoulders. We also had a 50 minute ESPA aromatherapy massage and it was deeply relaxing. What better way to recharge your batteries on a family holiday than a mini break within a break?

This is why Good Spa Guide loves accessible spa-ing in holiday complexes like Bluestone Wales. With places like this, family holidays can be a time for the whole family to recharge and relax.
