From country house hideaways in the Surrey Hills to sea-air retreats on the Sussex and Kent coast, the South East is spoilt for spa choice.
Country spa-ing at its best
The South East goes above and beyond when it comes to country house spas. At The Cliveden Spa, set in a walled garden brimming with roses and lavender, you can swim in the heated outdoor pool where John Profumo first glimpsed Christine Keeler in 1961. SenSpa at Careys Manor brings authentic Thai treatments, food and décor to the New Forest, and the Sussex barn-style spa at Bailiffscourt looks out over gardens home to an ostentation of peacocks.
If spreading your spa wings is more your thing, look no further than The Spa at Pennyhill Park which has eight (yes eight) pools to choose from, the most impressive being a 25-metre ozone-treated ballroom pool with underwater music. If it’s wellness you’re after, Goodwood Health & Wellbeing will set you on the right track with its Gut Health Programme; the eco credentials at The Spa at South Lodge - with its natural swimming pond cleaned with reeds – will impress even the most avid of planet-protectors.
Location, location, location…
