From Mayfair hotel spas to riverside retreats on the Thames, London has a spa for every lunch break and long weekend
The capital goes above and beyond when it comes to spas, with Art Deco marvels such as The Beaumont and The Langham vying for attention with subterranean spas like The Lanesborough and the Guerlain Spa at Raffles. Sweep into The Dorchester Spa and its 1930s Art Deco interior feels like a golden-era Hollywood party, pearl chandelier and all, while at The Lanesborough Club & Spa, on the edge of Hyde Park, you can summon a spa butler at the press of a button.
Swimmers should head below ground at The Bvlgari Spa in Knightsbridge for its 25-metre pool and golden vitality pool, or to the thermal floor at Biome by Corinthia London. For something with more history, AIRE Ancient Baths leads you round a candlelit thermal circuit beneath Covent Garden, in a building that was once home to J.M. Barrie, while Banya No.1 Hoxton brings an authentic bathhouse to the edge of the City.

London is one of the world’s most exciting capital cities, and when you’ve had your fill of steam rooms, it has plenty to keep you busy between treatments. The royal parks give you acres of green in the middle of the city, the Thames Path links one landmark to the next, and many of the galleries and museums are free to visit.
Hampstead Heath’s open-air swimming ponds are a bracing alternative to a spa pool, all year round.
The Spa at Ten Trinity Square overlooks Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, so a City break and a spa day can share an afternoon.
The glasshouses at Kew Gardens are a warm, green escape on a grey day.

Every spa in London with a Bubble Rating has been visited in person by a Spa Spy. Read what they found, from the pool temperature to the quality of the lunch.
