What they say

SenSpa, the multi-award winning Thai Spa at Careys Manor Hotel, in the New Forest, has created a new body therapy range, to complement and align with their treatments and philosophies at the spa. The skincare products are based on three main fragrances, intended to create feelings of Relaxing, Nourishing, and Detoxification.

First impressions

Both products come in simple, pretty packaging with the SenSpa logo and flowers of different hues. The Senspa relaxing body butter is a thick moisturiser and smells quite heavily of lavender. The bath oil is equally lavender-y and is perfect for a long, hot bath.

What’s in it?

Both products use organic lavender and essential oils of bergamot, patchouli and geranium. The essential oils are all made in the UK. SenSpa does not test their products on animals, nor do they use any ingredients derived from animals.

Usage

The instructions were very clear and the products easy to use. The butter absorbs easily into the skin, so doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. As it comes in a tube, and not portion-controlled sachets, you control how much goes onto your skin, so you can use as much or as little in an application as is appropriate for your skin type. The same is true for the bath oil – you control how much goes into your bath, so can have as heavily scented a bathroom as you wish!

Effects

Both products were very relaxing. The initial smell of lavender really lingered on my skin post bath and cream application. The bath oil really lasted and left my skin perfectly prepped for the moisturiser. My skin was noticeably softer after applying the body butter; it is very thick, but it actually has low water content so it is very easily absorbed into the skin.

Value

Both products, which are available at Waitrose, are really good value for money. The bath oil (£9.95) and body butter (£6.95) are both of good quality and really reflect the relaxing SenSpa experience without visiting the spa.

Final verdict

The products were beautifully packaged, good quality and left my skin feeling super soft. If you love the smell of lavender these are the products for you. I think I would try the Nourishing range next as the argan oil with jasmine, cedarwood and ylang sounds delightful.

We reviewed the Relaxing Bath Oil (100ml) £9.95 and Relaxing Body Butter (200ml) £6.95.

Good food; friendly therapists; decent music to listen to during a treatment; therapists who understand that exams make you feel really stressed.

Spy Dislikes:

Robes that are too big for people who are only five foot tall; swimming pools with no room to swim; too much healthy food.
