Antara Spa

This week the Good Spa Guide's Thursday nail-filing hour has been filled with talk of the imminent arrival of Chelsea Club's latest addition -- the Antara holistic day spa -- due to open in November 2010.  A day spa that amalgamates the offerings of Oriental, European and Ayurvedic wellness therapies certainly infiltrates our spa-spy radar.

Antara holistic day spa will offer five treatment rooms, including a traditional hammam and a manicure and pedicure area.

To ensure you stick to the advice from resident ayurvedic physician Dr Palitha Serasinghe during your private consultation, a range of ayurvedic dosha-appropriate food will be available -- perfect for those with a prominent pitta or vibrant vata.

The spa's treatment offerings will range from the European: Aromatherapy Associates massages and facials, skin peels and cosmeceutical procedures courtesy of Only Yourx; to the Oriental: a Cleopatra bath, reiki and reflexology; to the purely Ayurvedic: a Pizzichili oil bathing ritual or a Kati Vasti back treatment.

All this, and conveniently located just a stone's throw from this Spy's spiritual home -- The Kings Road. You never know, you may even be able to bag yourself a premiership footballer!

Instant results; jasmine and frangipani scents; hot steam rooms; a good selection of magazines; modernist decor.

Whale noises (on CD, not in the pool hopefully); hard massage beds; tiny toilet cubicles; being spoken to like a child; lukewarm pools.
