Happy birthday to Botox -- it's 20 this year.
Botox was licensed in 1989 by multinational healthcare giant Allergan, for the treatment of crossed eyes and uncontrollable blinking. It wasn't until 2006 that Botox was given the go-ahead for use as a cosmetic procedure in the UK, and at that point in time it was only allowed to be used in the treatment of glabellar lines -- those wrinkles between your brows.
So have a good birthday, Botox. And even though you're 20, you're not looking a day over 18... promise.
