When it comes to skincare, we spa aficionados are well aware that no lotion or potion is going to leave us looking 20 years younger. So, when we received some products from the "age maintain" range from ARK age-aware skincare, we were very pleased. Maintenance, as you all know, is the key to looking good.
ARK produces three ranges that focus on age rather than skin type. There is "age prepare", which aims to protect younger skin, for teens to those in their early 30s; "age maintain", designed for the mid-30s and up to 50; and "age repair", for those 50 and beyond.
We tested the ARK age maintain replenishing moisturiser (RRP £26.90) and ARK SkinResponse hydrating serum (RRP £38.70).
In the name of good testing, we tested the two products separately and blended together (as recommended). I even got Mr Stylish Spy in on the action, in order to get a mature male perspective.
What did we think? We were impressed.
The moisturiser is light and creamy; it absorbed into my skin easily, without being greasy. The moisturiser is definitely light enough to pop on under your foundation, and is only very lightly scented. My only bugbear was that the dispenser is oddly fiddly, and can prove a challenge if you go for a second squeeze when you have the product on your fingertips. You can use the moisturiser on its own for a light daytime application, or combine it with the rich, silky serum for an overnight intensive treatment.
The serum was delightfully light and yet felt deeply nourishing on my skin. The dropper design made it easy to dispense. I found that combining a little drop with my foundation made the application smoother. I definitely think my make-up has more staying power when I add the serum.
Mr Stylish Spy applied the serum at night. He often went in for a second round as he said it absorbed so quickly and really seemed to be replenishing lost moisture. He liked the mild scent, as it isn't overtly floral or girlie.
