The Good Spa Guide team pulled a rabbit out of a hat this year and secured the swanky Sanderson London for its 8th regional awards, celebrating the best in the industry with a Mad Hatter’s-themed afternoon tea.
Specially invited guests braved the cold to join us for the event, which kicked off with glasses of Champagne in the downstairs bar with its purple pool table and impressive stained glass window.
Guests then took the lift up to the first floor – an experience in itself with its space themed – and entered The Gallery for the celebrations.
Alice in Wonderland-themed plates and tea pots adorned the tables, along with table gifts and printed menus.
Good Spa Guide Founder and Director Daphne Metland then took to the stage to talk about the company’s year, with 65 spa visits under its belt, four newsletters a week reaching 90,000 consumers and two million visitors to the website.
Then it was time for tea: beautiful tiers of crustless sandwiches (coronation chicken, egg & cress; cream cheese & cucumber), cakes (heart-shaped passionfruit cheesecakes with mini butterflies, little chocolate pots made to look like toadstools and huge cupcakes with ladybirds on top) and scones (fruit and plain with jam and clotted cream) made each table bulge. The star of the show was the white candy floss at the top, which was melt-in-the-mouth fantastic.
Good Spa Guide Director Caitlin Dalton then announced the winners, who came up to receive an engraved statuette, a winner’s certificate and a goody bag stuffed with products kindly donated by our sponsors. Photographs were then taken for prosperity (and social media, no doubt).

Before I disappear down the rabbit hole, I’d just like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, without whom these awards could not take place.
