If you’ve been day dreaming about spa recently, chances are you’ve been lusting over dramatic cliff-top sanctuaries, or ever-so-quiet countryside retreats. But what if you can’t get to the spa? Well… spa has gone mobile! We love these interesting ways of getting your spa fix.
The HotTug is a wood fired ‘boat-cum-hot-tub’ that you can hire to take you on a luxurious float down the River Thames. Run by the-runnymede-on-thames hotel and spa, The HotTug is the only one of its kind in the UK and features a silent electric engine to power up to six people along the river. When filled, the water rim is level with the river on the outside of the boat to provide a truly water-ful experience. Meanwhile the on-board wood-burning stove keeps the water at a comfortable 38 degrees and you can sit soaking up the warmth and sipping a drink while enjoying the river views. Bliss!
If river surroundings aren’t your thing, or you want to bring spa to you, then Bathing Under The Sky (makers of wood-fired hot tubs since 2009) have converted a double decker bus into a spa. Designed to bring relaxation in style to events of up to 100 people, this unique Hot Tub Bus has a Finish sauna, hot showers and ‘beauty corner’ stations on the lower deck, and three wood-fired hot tubs on the open-top roof. The charming converted vehicle parks up wherever you require it and an additional changing room area ‘pops up’ to one side, with deckchairs, daybeds and fire-bowls set out around it. A trained team will set everything up for you, then serve as spa butlers and life-guards for your guests. The Hot Tub Bus also parks up at festivals -- you can find its timetable here. What will we dream-up next?
