Elemis tri enzyme facial

The Good Spa Guide speaks to Head Therapist at Norton House in Edinburgh, Sarah Gay, to find out more about the effective Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial.

What is an Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial?

"The Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial is a 60-minute resurfacing treatment. The facial uses three targeted enzymes to accelerate the skin's biological exfoliation process. This is achieved by up to 75% in just one treatment. This treatment helps to effectively remove the thickening layer of the epidermis leaving the skin brighter, smoother and more radiant after just one treatment."

Why should I choose an Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial?

"If you choose a Tri-Enzyme facial, you will see the clinically proven results after just one treatment. It helps the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, stimulates cell regeneration, reduces pigmentation and acne scarring and it is deeply cleansing. This makes it prefect for a bride-to-be or someone who has a special occasion coming up.

As this facial helps bring a renewed level of evenness to the skin's surface and clarifys the complexion and skin tone, it is one of the best facials for someone who suffers from acne or acne scarring.

If you are just starting out on a course of facials, this is a good facial to start with, as it deep cleans and gets the skin prepared for the treatments to follow. After just one treatment you will expect to see up to 75% resurfacing and up to 32% increased skin smoothness. Great if you want to relax but also see instant results."

What to expect during the treatment

"During the Tri-Enzyme facial your therapist will cleanse your skin with the Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash, a daily treatment that speeds up the skin's natural cell renewal cycle. This face wash product is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, and is also vegan-friendly. It leaves a newly cleansed complexion and allows maximum benefit from the rest of the resurfacing products. This is due to the powerful anti-oxidant properties of Moringa, which help to protect skin against environmental damage, along with White Truffle Poria Cocos, which helps to soothe and support the microflora of the skin.

Your therapist will exfoliate your skin with the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel, using fruit enzymes to exfoliate away the dead skin cells. Your therapist will then give you a wonderfully relaxing hand and arm massage while this product does its work.

Three different serums are used along with the Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Lotion throughout the treatment. In the lotion you have the innovative formulation of trypsin and pepsin, two natural enzymes that help to breakdown dead skin cells. Your therapist will apply the three serums at different times throughout the treatment.

The first serum is for underneath the Tri-Enzyme peel-off mask. This quick-setting mask provides the skin with a deep cleanse and gentle exfoliation, and helps restore moisture levels. On peeling off the mask, it leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft - imperfections and blemishes appear diminished.

The second serum is then applied by your therapist, before a soothing cream mask. While both masks are on you will relax with a neck and shoulder massage and scalp massage.

Your therapist will then apply the third serum and leave it on your skin. This is left on as it reduces the likelihood of any aggression to the skin and it also seals in the perfect environment. To finish the treatment, your therapist will choose the moisturiser most suited to your skin, then apply it along with Liquid Layer, which is an SPF cream to protect the skin."

What to expect after the treatment

"After you have had the Tri-Enzyme facial you skin should feel deeply cleansed, extremely soft, radiant and smooth, and with any imperfections appearing diminished."

What makes an Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial different from other facials?

"This is a results-driven spa treatment, but also with relaxation in mind. The facial and the products have been clinically trialled so they are proven to work. You know when you come for this facial that you are going to get results!

The precision layering of the three targeted enzyme serums is a safe and effective way of removing the thickening layer of the epidermis. There is nothing harsh being used on the skin, and you won't leave red or irritated.

This facial is really popular and so are the Tri-Enzyme skincare products. I think once people see the results that they get from it, they get hooked!"

Definitely one for the wish list.
