A few months ago, we spoke to one of our favourite beauty gurus, Clare Rogers from the Treatment Rooms, Brighton, to get her expert advice on anti-ageing skin care. Clare confided that her top tip was sleeping on a silk pillowcase... Fast forward back to last week, and lo and behold, what did we find in the Good Spa post bag? A silk pillowcase!

Clare's launched the Treatment Range, with a Beauty Sleep Collection. It's gorgeous to sleep on silk and I have to confess, it's a first for me. I looked refreshed in the morning, but I did think it was more a psychological boost than a sneaky facial-while-you-sleep.

Until I popped the case in the wash and went back to my usual Egyptian cotton, that is.

Eek! I'd got so used to seeing smooth skin when I woke up, that I forgot I usually wake up with such terrible pillow creases that I look as though I've spent the night face down on a tyre tread! I definitely need another for when the first is in the wash!

Why does it work? Well, pure silk is naturally hypoallergenic and contains cellular albumen fibre, which is said to help reduce signs of ageing, and -- unlike my 100% cotton pillowcase -- will prevent creases and lines developing on your face!
